The Orange County Chapter of REFORMA, in partnership with the Institute of Museum and Library Services, Santa Ana Public Library, and Pollak Library, is seeking proposals to present at the “Memories of Migration: Telling our Stories & Connecting our Journeys” conference on Friday, August 11, 2017 at the University of California, Fullerton.
Memories of Migration: Telling our Stories & Connecting our Journeys is the culmination of a grant received by the Institute of Museum and Library Services that has been dedicated to chronicling the migration stories of those in the Orange County area. While primarily focusing on Latino history in and around Orange County, the project has collected hundreds of migration stories from individuals from all walks of life to demonstrate that migration is a universal part of the human condition.
Presentations must have any of the following themes in a library, academic or professional setting:
• Oral history
• Local (Orange County) history
• Latino history
• Any work that can be justified to fit the theme of this conference
Proposals can be for presentations that are between 5 minutes (Ignite*) and 30 minutes in length.
*Ignite sessions – Quick, condensed and concise way of presenting a topic, usually within five minutes.
